Underwater is spelled u-n-d-e-r-w-a-t-e-r. Underwater本意是“水下的”，但用在商業(yè)上可以指資不抵債。
美國(guó)房屋市場(chǎng)次貸危機(jī)產(chǎn)生了許多underwater mortgage，就是指房屋按揭額超過(guò)房屋市值的貸款。最近的統(tǒng)計(jì)發(fā)現(xiàn)，Despite rising home prices, more than 30% of borrowers were underwater on their mortgage during the first quarter of 2012.
