1. further
adj. & adv. far的比較級(jí) 多指程度上“更進(jìn)一步”，具有抽象意義。
I have nothing further to say. 我沒有別的話要說(shuō)了。
get further information 得到更詳盡的消息
如果指具體的距離可和farther互換：
He can put the shot further / farther than I can. 他的鉛球比我扔得更遠(yuǎn).
2. add
vi. & vt. “加；加起來(lái)；補(bǔ)充說(shuō)”。
If you add 4 to 3, you get 7. 四加三得七。
I should like to add that we are pleased with the test result. 我還要補(bǔ)充說(shuō)一下,我們對(duì)測(cè)試結(jié)果表示滿意。
add還常用于以下三種固定句式：
1) add... to... “把……加到……”
Please add my name to the list. 請(qǐng)?jiān)诿麊紊霞由衔业拿帧?/p>
2) add to “增加；增添”，相當(dāng)于increase。
The news added to his anxiety. 這消息增添了他的憂慮。
3) add up to “總數(shù)達(dá)……；加起來(lái)等于……”。
These figures add up to fifty. 這些數(shù)字總計(jì)為50。
3. remind
vt. (常與of, 動(dòng)詞不定式及that從句連用)“使想起；使記起；提醒”。
Remind me to write to my mother. 提醒我給媽媽寫信。
This reminds me of my childhood. 這使我想起童年。
She reminded me that I hadn't watered the flowers. 她提醒我還沒有澆花。
4. whatever
pron. & adj. “無(wú)論什么；任何東西；一切事物”。
既可以引導(dǎo)名詞性從句，也可以引導(dǎo)狀語(yǔ)從句；但no matter what只能引導(dǎo)狀語(yǔ)從句
Whatever is left over is yours. (引導(dǎo)主語(yǔ)從句，不能換成no matter what) 剩下來(lái)的所有的都是你的。
Do whatever she tells you and you'll have peace.(引導(dǎo)賓語(yǔ)從句，不能換成no matter what) 她叫你干什么你就干什么,那你就太平了。
Whatever happens, the first important thing is to keep cool. (引導(dǎo)狀語(yǔ)從句，可以換成no matter what)不管發(fā)生什么事,頭等重要的是保持冷靜。
